Tendonitis

Inflammation of a tendon

Tendons are strong, cord-like structures that connect muscles to bones and allow us to move. An inflammed tendon is called tendonitis. The most common forms of foot and ankle tendonitis are Achilles tendonitis, posterior tibial tendonitis, and peroneal tendinosis.

Main causes of foot and ankle tendonitis

• Overuse
• Trauma
• Abnormal foot structure
• Medical conditions, like diabetes and arthritis

It is best to seek medical attention as soon as possible. An arch support (orthotic), brace, physical therapy, and/or medication may be required.
