Plantar fasciitis (heel pain and arch pain) are usually due to inflammation of ligaments and small muscles that support the arch of the foot. It is often very painful when arising in the morning and getting out of a car.
Plantar fasciitis is also known as Heel Spur Syndrome because the tension of the plantar fascia often causes the formation of a bone spur. The x-ray in our office which can identify heel spurs immediately.
Multiple causes for this heel pain have been identified. A change in footwear, activity level, and load on the foot can induce plantar fasciitis. However, many people are unaware what triggered their heel pain.
Running, sports, and shoes influence the severity of symptoms. Plantar fasciitis is usually cured with a combination of:
